Acne Causing Bacteria
For every bit of conventional wisdom about acne, there is a lot of foolish ideas thrown around about it. Did you know that one of the largest causes of acne is actually bacteria getting caught in the pores of your skin? It’s true. Bacteria gets stuck in your pores and that’s how it all begins…
Once the bacteria is stuck in the pores, the body treats it as it treats any other infection. It sends white blood cells to attack and kill the bacteria. That is why when you pop a pimple, it has white puss that comes out. That white puss is the white blood cells that were fighting the infection.
So back to the bacteria stuck in the pores. When it is stuck in the pores, it feeds on the oil, and breeds even more bacteria. More bacteria means more white blood cells and before you know it, it’s a real party in your skin. Thus, a pimple is formed. It’s unpleasant and sometimes painful. You get little red bumps with whiteheads on top. It’s not cool to look at and it’s even worse to have yourself.
So, since the cause of acne revolves around the combination of the oil buildup combined with bacteria buildup, the only way to fight it is to fight both the oil and the bacteria.
If you’ve ever read the labels on most acne fighting remedies, they usually contain benzoite peroxide or salycilic acid as active ingredients. The reason these chemicals are used is they fight either the bacteria buildup or the oil buildup.
Fighting the bacteria that is forming on your skin is far and away the most effective way to limit the acne growth. If the bacteria isn’t there, it won’t be treated as an infection and whitehead zits won’t form. In short, fight the bacteria, fight the acne. Of course, if your skin wasn’t naturally oily, which it tends to be during the teenage years, the bacteria wouldn’t grow so much, so fighting the oil buildup is just as important as fighting the bacteria.
